Marley. And me.

Getting a dog is the best day and losing a dog is the worst day. You can say that about a lot of things, I personally relate this to dogs. Marley in particular. He truly was the best dog ever.

Our dogs know us, like really know us. The tears, the joy, the frustration, the anger, the under belly of who we are. Dogs wake up with a “this is the going to be the best day ever!!!” attitude (just ask Radar) – even before they roll out of your bed. Before their paws hit the floor. I don’t think that dogs even know or consider that it could not be a great day. WHAT!? We have our humans, hello, and FOOD! and might get to go for a WALK!!! What else is there? Why do you think God created them to be so loving and to “get” us humans and relate to us in a way that other animals just don’t? If you’re a cat lover, I get it, however, dogs are just different.

Maybe we take the dog approach today. Finding excitement in the simple pleasures. Smell, taste, touch and just feeling the sun on our faces. Simple things. It doesn’t have to be a grand day in what we recognize to be grand, it’s simply today. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Simplify. Be humble. Enjoy.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24 NIV

  1. That comic strip cracked me up! Yes, dogs…sigh…cannot live without one! Well, I have, but life is definitely better *with* one.
