That is a picture of the oldest tablet found – to date. In 2016 this tablet sold at auction for $850,000. That doesn’t sound like much, considering that Michael Jackson’s white glove sold for $350,000 at auction…
Yeah, so the tablet…. The guys that were excavating for a railroad line in Western Israel came across this tablet in 1913 and one of the workers apparently took it home and used it as a paving stone in his courtyard for three decades. DOH!
Obviously not one of the real stones the 10 Commandments were written on back in the day, this tablet is thought to be from 300 – 800 AD. It’s around 1500 years old. You can read more about this here: Oldest Known 10 Commandments
I am sitting outside right now – go figure – and I started writing in my mind and felt a little too lazy to get up and go grab a pen or my laptop. Then I thought, uh, if you want and expect to hear from your Maker, you’d better have a pen handy. At. All. Times.
Glad I got up. It’s the action, you know? Sitting here thinking about things all morning and not getting up to grab the tools I need would not be beneficial to my learning and quite frankly, a little disrespectful to God. I say disrespectful in the sense that – I have asked for Him to be the center of my life and to speak things to me that continue to prepare me for my journey. What happens when you show up to a meeting unprepared? Like a work meeting? You walk in and sit across from your boss, hopefully prepared with a pen and paper, right? I mean, you might need to take notes on things to excel you to the next level. Your boss probably has insightful information to relay to you to help you succeed. It’s about always being prepared in all circumstances.
The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. -Matthew 25:3, 4
