Happy Fry Day, Y’all!

Do you see the little dog paws in this picture? Yeah, the ground gets HOT for these guys. If you bend down and touch the sidewalk, street, whatever, it will certainly let you know if four paws should be walking on it – or not. Dogs want to go for a walk at any given time, it’s up to us to determine when it’s safe. This is Jen’s Public Safety Message for the day:  Don’t walk your dogs when it’s hot!

Last week, I was coming out of a retail store (where one would spend more time than say, in a grocery store) and as I was getting into my car, I heard a dog bark. Waaaait a second!? The dog was in small plastic crate in a black truck bed, sitting in the steaming hot sun – it was 99 degrees.

Okay, now I know I am a pet lover, but anyone can surely see my concern here. The truck had the silver sun blocker thing, so it appeared nobody was coming back anytime soon. My mind was racing. Wait, do I steal the dog? I quickly envisioned what jail might look like at my age (or at any age for that matter). I opted for the Phone A Friend choice. I called my husband. He talked me into staying in the car and calling Animal Control and having them check on the welfare of the dog. I don’t know the outcome, I don’t need to know the outcome and I did what I thought was best. Sometimes you just gotta hand stuff off and pray for the right outcome. Because, doing things ourselves could result in the need for bond money…

And there you have it. Dogs get hot too. We do our best and God will do the rest.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding…                – Proverbs 3:5  NIV
